Positive Behaviour Support: Professional Development, Mentoring and Supervision
Workshops of 2 or 3 days.
These are only offered to whole teams.
These teams can include supervisors, managers, family members, advocates, people with a disability, and friends as well as staff.
In fact, it is preferable that people with a disability and these important significant others in their life are included.
Topics include:
- Defining what PBS is, and what it is not
- John O’Brien’s 5 Accomplishments as signposts to a better quality of life
- Person-Centred Planning as an essential context for PBS
- Focussing and building on strengths
- Magnifying the things that work
- Minimising the things that don’t work
- Using Summary Statements to get a handle on why the person might be displaying problem behaviours
- Developing plans to support and teach positive behaviour
- Preventing and defusing incidents
I also provide:
Ongoing supervision and mentoring services for behaviour support professionals.
These can include one-to-one, group, face-to-face and electronic contact.
